Make it With Meat Returns to Bathgate Academy
7th of May 2014
Make it With Meat returned for a second time to Bathgate Academy with a challenge to create and market a healthy new burger for leading Broxburn-based beef processor, Stoddart’s, to a panel of experts.
Over the last four months teams of S2 pupils at the Academy have worked to develop new healthy burgers for the teenage market. The finalist’s burgers were tasted by a team of judges from Stoddart’s, Scottish Food and Drink Federation (SFDF) and QMS and one winning product was selected.
To create the new product pupils had to conduct market research, develop the product and design packaging that meets all legislative labeling requirements. Through the challenge the pupils have gained valuable team working and product development skills, as well as an understanding how the subjects they learn in school relate to the real world of work.
